Filmes Casa is an independent film development and production company based in Puerto Rico, focused on producing auteur Puertorican cinema for Iberoamerica and the Caribbean.

As queer filmmakers, it is our nature to constantly reinvent ourselves and our filmmaking processes; to adapt and continuously challenge the status quo—to ask questions, to be daring and bold, to take risks, and tell the stories no one else is willing to tell.

We believe that filmmaking is an experience most enjoyed when shared. From the set to the screen, we make sure we are having fun doing our job: bringing our stories to life.

WHAT WE DO…

  • SCRIPT & DEVELOPMENT

    Our team of producers is focused on empowering diverse voices through cinematic storytelling, and are always looking for strong, socially-driven narratives for those mis- and underrepresented on the screen. We scout scripts based on authentic and compelling visions. From script doctoring to packaging, we aim to develop quality entertainment for Latinx, female and queer audiences.

  • PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT & COORDINATION

    At Filmes Casa, we work alongside artists and directors to make films happen from idea to completion and release. We work from the overall creative vision, to the financial, logistics and managerial aspects of filmmaking. Our production model is focused on inclusive collaborations, and strategic planning for sustainable, safe sets.

    We work from features to short films, documentaries and music videos.

  • CONSULTING & WORKSHOPS

    More than a workplace, Filmes Casa is a dynamic, creative hub with formative programs, networking labs, and workshops. We offer expert advice ranging from screenwriting to local film production.

    We also host educational internships on a rolling basis for independent storytellers, creative marketers and emerging producers. Get in touch!

Raúl is producer, screenwriter and founder of Filmes Casa. Throughout his career, he has worked independent models for the production of national cinema. His vision as a filmmaker is defined by his commitment to diversity, the protection of creative authorship, and the quality of his products. With Filmes Casa, Raúl promotes the representation of authentic stories from the fantastic to the ordinary, with his undeniable charisma and vocation.

Executive Producer & Co-CEO

Samara is founder and creative producer of Filmes Casa. Her early fascination with cinema led her to develop as a 360 filmmaker. As a screenwriter, director and producer, her authorship includes a portfolio of projects focused on powerful social, feminist and Afro-Caribbean narratives. From Filmes Casa, she combines her artistic sensitivity with diligence, transparency and structure, becoming a key piece for the successful design of high quality content.

Junior Producer

Shakira is the junior producer of Filmes Casa. Since she was young, Shakira trained in audiovisual production and has gained experience producing films, music videos, and commercials. Her award-winning filmography defines her professionalism, dedication and character as one of the most prominent emerging producers nationwide. Now, Shakira works coordinating new projects, giving them the attention to detail that makes the difference.
